ASRock 890GM Pro3

TweakTown -- We have had more than a few ASRock board in the lab. We have even had the folks from ASRock stop by to talk to us about their products. So it comes as no surprise that ASRock has been one of the ones to send out their IGP carrying AM3 boards that are claiming full support for the Phenom II X6. As we have found out, though, not all boards that support the X6 can do so with style. ASRock claims that their 890GM Pro3 can do so and lists some other nice features to boot. Features like core unlocking, Turbo Core, Turbo overclock setting (Turbo30, 50 and 60) and more. You get all of this for only $117 from Newegg.com.

ASRock P45R2000-WiFi P45

Think Computers -- Our good friends at ASRock feel your pain. Building practical solutions for tough problems into motherboards is what they are best known for, and they have just released what may be the answer to your problems, an Intel P45 board capable of running both DDR2 and DDR3 memory. This isn't a new idea, a few companies did the same thing with the P35 last year. Most attempts were less than awesome, but ASRock's board was clearly the best attempt. With this experience under their belts, ASRock has released the P45R2000-Wifi. Will it be the solution for those wanting a gradual crossover from DDR2 to DDR3? Keep reading to see!

ASRock H55M Pro

TweakTown -- As we have shown you with their X58 and P55 boards, ASRock has some excellent engineers behind the scenes developing boards that are able to give great performance and overclocking. With the launch of the 32nm Clarkdale Core i5 661, ASRock has come forward with their own H55 based motherboard. Can ASRock continue their success with this new CPU and platform? After all, Clarkdale puts a GPU directly on the CPU packaging and can complicate the tracing layout of an already complex device like a motherboard. Luckily, we have had an ASRock H55M Pro in house for our initial testing of the Core i5 661 CPU and can give you a good answer. Read on to find out.

ASRock P55DE3

3D Game Man -- It has been a little while since we have had an ASRock P55 board up on the bench. The last one was the when the Lynnfield CPUs launched. At the time it was the P55 Deluxe. This board featured a handy little SATA 3.0 add-in card and was an excellent performer. Well, today we get to head back to the ASRock camp and see if another of their P55 boards can live up to the performance and quality we are getting used to from ASRock. This board is the no-frills P55DE3. The P55DE3 is a very inexpensive board as far as P55s go. You can pick one up from Newegg.com for $99.99. So let’s see if ASRock can still offer great performance and overclocking at this lower price.

ASRock 939SLI32-eSATA2 Preview

Phoronix -- What we have our hands on today is the first publicly released motherboard that not only boasts support for AMD's future AM2 Socket, but also is also supportive of NVIDIA's Scalable Link Interface with both of the contenders running at their full PCI Express x16 speeds. In addition, it also packs in an IEEE-1394 Firewire controller as well as a Gigabit ethernet controller! You ask who is the manufacturer of the motherboard? None other than ASRock surprisingly makes this product. Has ASRock clearly broken its "budget" motherboards seal when it comes to the new 939SLI32-eSATA2? We have the ASRock 939SLI32-eSATA2 at our Phoronix facilities today as we investigate this ULI M1697 + M1695 solution.

ASRock 870 Extreme3

Hardware Secrets -- When AMD brought out the new 8xx series chipset they did things in an odd way. Their first release was the 890GX. This was a high-end version of the chipset, but it had an IGP (internal graphics processor) which is not normally how things work. For some reason, this has been the path that AMD has taken. Not that long after the release of the 890GX (and the later the 890FX) we are down to the 870 flavor of the chipset. This particular 870 is sitting on an ASRock designed PCB with some intriguing features. According to ASRock, the 870 Extreme3 is the first motherboard to have Core Unlocking available on it. It also has USB 3.0, SATA 3.0, and (if the packaging is accurate) eSATA 3.0. Let’s see if this $109.99 (from NewEgg.com at the time of writing) motherboard is up to the title ‘Extreme’ or not.
