HOTHardware -- When AMD launched the Radeon HD 4870 X2 a few months back, the company hinted at the impending release of another, more affordable, dual-GPU powered card aptly named the Radeon HD 4850 X2. Like the more powerful 4870 X2, the 4850 X2 would sport a pair of RV770 GPUs on a single PCB, but on the 4850 X2 they would be clocked somewhat lower and would be linked to more affordable GDDR3 memory. At the time, AMD planned to release the card at a slightly lower price point than the competing GeForce GTX 280, but it took quite a while for the Radeon HD 4850 X2 to finally materialize. When it did arrive, in the form of the Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 X2 2G GDDR3 we'll be showing you here, the 3D graphics landscape had changed somewhat. Come on by the site and check it out...

 

The Tech Zone -- The Sapphire X800 GTO2 is one of those product that bargain hunters love to find. You see, this card really isn't an X800, it's really a lot more. The limited edition X800 GTO2 is based on the ATI R480 core, not the R430 core used by other X800 video cards. For those out of the loop, the R480 core is the same core that drives the ultra fast X850 XT. So why is this card call an X800? Because four of its 16 pixel pipelines are turn off. That makes it just like any other X800 video cards, with 12 pixel pipelines. However, using a widely available BIOS tweak will enable the remaining four pixel pipelines, so you'll have a graphics card with the same number of pipes as the X850XT.

techPowerUp -- Sapphire's X1950 Pro Dual is the world's first video card that uses two ATI RV570 GPUs on a single PCB. The board comes with 2x 512 MB of GDDR3 memory for a price of $399. In our testing the card shows that it has to potential to narrow the performance gap to NVIDIA's lineup until R600 is released.

Driverheaven -- Today we have the opportunity to test the card in its shipping form with a driver which is much closer to the version consumers will receive. We will be running the card through a selection of the latest and greatest games at resolutions up to 2560x1600 as well as testing Blu-Ray acceleration and CrossFireX performance. The big question that needs answered ..... are ATI back at the top of their game?

Think Computers -- Today I will be looking at one of Sapphire's latest video cards, the Radeon HD 4850 Toxic, a 512MB DDR3 factory overclocked version of the HD 4850. This card comes complete with ramsinks, the first I have had on a video card that I didn't install myself, and a Zalman heatpipe cooler. Will the HD 4850 impress me as much at the HD 3850 did?
